About WEA Trust and Its Health Care Plans

About Us

Who We Are

Founded by WEAC in 1970, the not-for-profit WEA Trust has been serving Wisconsin public employers, their staffs and families. Well-known for personal customer service, the Trust has expanded from our origins of insuring only public school employees. Today, we have a diverse clientele of all Wisconsin public employees—school, municipal, county, and state.

An alternative to large national carriers, WEA Trust is an independent, not-for-profit company based in Madison, with a Wisconsin staff proud to serve those who serve Wisconsin. Our high-touch service and medical management strive to make a difference in the lives of our members and customers, focusing on getting members the right care at the right time for the right price.

What We Offer

WEA Trust offers high-quality health plans, fully insured or as a self-funded administrator, with the flexibility to meet each employer’s needs. We strive to keep quality high while controlling costs through innovative ideas and partnerships.

Some examples of our innovations include our telehealth product through AmericanWell and our bundled pricing partnership with the Orthopedic and Sports Institute of the Fox Valley. As we work Reclaim Healthcare in Wisconsin, we aim to improve the quality of care, reduce waste, and make care easier to understand.

In addition to health insurance for active employees, WEA-MedPlus is our wrap-around plan for retirees on Medicare. WEA Trust also offers standalone vision insurance and a group plan for post-employment health care expenses.
